H. David Clark, II
David is a founding member of Modern Divorce Mediation, LLC, bringing over four decades of distinguished legal experience and a deep commitment to helping families navigate divorce with dignity, clarity, and compassion.
Born in New Orleans and raised in Mississippi, David earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence, cum laude, from Mississippi College School of Law in 1978. His career spans every facet of family law, from legislative counsel and solo practitioner to senior partner and longtime Chancellor of Mississippi’s Second Chancery District, where he presided over thousands of divorce, custody, and property division cases from 1989 to 2018.
Appointed as a Senior Status Judge in 2019, David continues to serve the State of Mississippi with wisdom and impartiality. His dedication to judicial excellence has earned him numerous leadership roles, including Chairman of the Mississippi Judicial Performance Commission and the Supreme Court’s E-Filing/Docket Management Subcommittee. In 2005, he was honored with the Chief Justice Award for his outstanding contributions to the judiciary.
David’s approach to mediation is grounded in decades of courtroom experience and insight leading him to a heartfelt belief that divorcing spouses, especially those who have children, should not have to become adversaries in a public courtroom to move on with their lives. He understands the emotional and financial toll of divorce and the need for a modern alternative which prioritizes cooperation, affordability, and the well-being of children and families. David understands that Modern Divorce Mediation is a much needed, even necessary alternative to divorce litigation.
Outside the courtroom, David is a father of three, grandfather of seven, and a lifelong advocate for justice, innovation, and emotional intelligence in legal practice. Through Modern Divorce Mediation, he offers clients a safe, structured, and supportive path forward, one conversation at a time.
Lauren Sixma
Lauren is a founding member of Modern Divorce Mediation, LLC. She brings over 20 years of experience in sales and contract negotiation to her role as a founding member of Modern Divorce Mediation, LLC. With a deep commitment to helping families navigate change with dignity and clarity, Lauren blends legal insight, communication expertise, and personal empathy to guide clients toward a healthier post-divorce future.
Originally from Ponce Inlet, Florida, Lauren relocated to Mississippi in 2013. She holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication, cum laude, from the University of Central Florida, and an A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies, with honors, from Daytona State College. Her legal career began in a large mediation firm handling family and probate matters as a paralegal, an experience that shaped her belief in mediation as a powerful alternative to adversarial divorce.
Lauren’s professional journey includes leadership roles as a Senior Accounts Manager and later as Vice President of Business Development at a national firm. Yet her passion for law and her desire to offer families a better way forward led her back to the legal field and ultimately to the founding of Modern Divorce Mediation. Her approach is rooted in years of listening closely to clients, identifying what truly matters, and crafting solutions that foster peace, not conflict.
Lauren understands that while litigated divorce tends to create lifelong adversaries, Divorce Mediation offers a respectful, structured path to resolution which is especially vital when children are involved. Through Modern Divorce Mediation, Lauren offers families a chance to rebuild, communicate better, and move forward with confidence.
Outside of business, Lauren is a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. Her personal experience with divorce revealed to her the flaws with the traditional divorce process. Through Modern Divorce Mediation she hopes to guide spouses through the divorce process in a faster, more affordable and less stressful manner, and to help them strengthen their communication and negotiation skills so that their family has the opportunity to start fresh, with hope and harmony.
